The Irrational Logic of Fascism

The murder of the Dutch film-maker Theo van Gogh by an islamistic fanatic has sparked off a spate of violent reactions. Many people now ask, how could this happen in Holland? Well, it really isn’t that complicated. Islamofascists don’t care if a country took part in the US-led alliance to liberate Iraq from Saddam Hussein or not. They won’t care if a country voiced its opposition against the war. They will only use these sentiments when it suits their cause, which is a globalized theocratic-Fascist rule. The bottom line is: they, i. e. the Islamofascists, hate us, i. e. Western-style democrats, and they will do everything they can do destroy our way of life and our least opposition to islamistic fundamentalism. That’s it. There’s no need for a grand theory or analyzing every detail everytime something like this happens. Islamofascists hate everything the democratic and Western world stands for: free speech, freedom of religion, tolerance, liberty, justice, humanity, the joy of life, our right to live our lives as we choose. This must be understood if Islamofasicm is to be combated in an effective way. Fortunately, the current president of the United States does understand. And fortunately his number one ally, the UK, has an equally insightful leader when it comes to dealing with this imminent threat to democracy.

All you say is basically true but don't forget that the Netherlands supported the Iraq war and in fact has boots on the ground in country right now.
